About Luck Productions
Luck Productions is an independent film production group, organized by Sean Luck and Jonathan Wilson Luck; two brothers who share a passion for producing fun, thought provoking, and entertaining films. Our freshman effort is a production entitled "The Shoot" which was produced in conjunction with the International 48 hour film project. As part of the guidelines of the 48 hour film project, we were required to script, direct, film, edit and deliver a completed film in only 48 hours. Prior to the start of the contest we had no idea of the genre of the film. Our film "The Shoot" is actually supposed to be a romance, and although it has some romantic relationship elements in it, it is mostly an spy/action type film. We didn't win any awards, but we're proud of the accomplishment nonetheless. Most of the teams that won awards had production teams of up to 50+ people complete with grips, lighting technicians, sound technicians, etc. They even had catering! Our entire production team consisted of 3 people, and one of those team members had never made a movie before.
Comments we've recieved on this movie have overall been very positive. People like the sytlized look of the film, and for those who have made films before, they can appreciate the results we achieved with such limited resources and timeframe. Ultimately, everything came together and we had a great time doing it.
Meet The Film Makers
Sean Luck
Sean Luck is Luck Productions technical wizard; the “guy with the gear”. He specializes in making sure the team has all of the proper equipment needed to create productions, even fabricating custom camera rigs when necessary to ensure a successful shoot. As a highly qualified computer scientist, he also specializes in computer graphics and special effects and excels at postproduction. In Luck Productions first production entitled “The Shoot”, Sean was instrumental in the editing suite with overdubbing ADR, adding special effects such as simulated weapons fire, cartridge ejection, Foley, and sound effects. By day, Sean is a Senior Software Engineer and accomplished Web Designer and is the owner of Blackstone Web Design in Mendon, MA.
Jonathan Wilson-Luck
Jonathan Wilson-Luck is the Visual Aesthetic expert of the Luck Productions team. He is responsible for coodinating the overall “look” of our films and helps us achieve the visual artistry which lends our films a unique look. A proponent of the "Dogma 95 Movement" and other avant-garde filmmaking techniques, Jonathan got his start making films at Connecticut College, where he studied and explored various experimental film production techniques, and produced and directed several experimental films. This experience whetted his appetite for making additional films and was the catalyst for creating the Luck Productions film team. By day, Jonathan is a Full Time graduate student studying for his Masters Degree in Psychology at SUNY New Paltz. In addition to making films part time, he is also a DJ on Radio Station WFNP 88.7 FM in the New Paltz, New York. Excerpts from his radio program can be heard here.
